I'm reading a text about harassment

in the workplace, and it just hit me: they talk about „ethnic origin”, „ethnic group” etc. The term is supposed to be PC, and raise awareness about issues related to racism. But let me ask you something: have you ever used (or heard someone use) the term „ethnic group” when talking about, say... Germans? Danes? Czechs? You know, white people. Probably not – although it wouldn't be incorrect (check your Wikipedia) , but „somehow” we all think of race anyway.

Because in reality, it is used to denote „non-white people”. Isn't the usage of this term a translation of how we still view the world? There is „us” (white people, Northern hemisphere etc.) and there are the „ethnic groups” (everyone else) – and we define others (see: postcolonialist shit).

And no, it's not because of „our” numbers, because the Han Chinese win by far.
